The Flawless Host Origin Story

I’ve been obsessed with quality for as long as I can remember.

When I was 6 years old, I didn’t just want a baseball glove, I wanted a blue, Wilson, Devon White model baseball glove.

After I learned how to play guitar, I took an entire month of my earnings and bought a Martin J40 acoustic guitar with East Indian Rosewood back and sides and abalone inlay around the soundboard.

And after selling a company a decade ago I didn’t just buy any watch. Instead I bought a 15 year old Rolex GMT Master II 16710 because I believed (and still believe) that the case dimensions during that vintage are superior to anything that has been produced since.

I’m someone who doesn’t own a lot, but everything I own is something I absolutely love.

Finding Quality at Work

Over the past 20 years I’ve started 3 companies. The first one blew up because my co-founders and I were young idiots and we didn’t know what we were doing.

The second company turned into quite a nice lifestyle business that eventually was acquired. But my best friend and business partner found that we never fell in love with the day to day of building and selling marketing software for accounting firms.

5 years ago I co-founded Better Place Forests and my life entirely changed. I fell in love with our product.

I remember watching our first forest tours and heading to Home Depot that night to buy a rake so I could personally rake all our trails the next day.

It was a combination of a beautiful physical product that I could combine with customer care at a level an industry hadn’t seen before.

The Next Chapter

The Flawless Host Dinner Party

I’ve recently started a family and that family is growing. I’ve moved out of the city and into a spacious house in the suburbs. And for the first time, I get to properly entertain.

And it’s flooded me with memories.

My mom’s passion is dinner parties. She loves every single bit of them. Planning the guest list, the menu, the wine. She even is very specific about how the dinner party flows into different parts of the house from the arrival, the appetizers, dinner, and the post-meal setting.

The more I host at my own house, the more I care about creating the perfect setting and getting the right equipment to create the perfect meal.

I love creating an ideal setting. I want everything to be flawless.

And that’s why I’m here now with this store. Because I want to share my passion for hosting with you.
